Recently Complete Water Solutions received a call regarding spotting on a paint line. This current customer uses RO Water to rinse the final product prior to boxing and shipping the products to their customers. The customer had not had much experience with Reverse Osmosis & Softener systems so Complete Water Solutions performed a “Free Preventative Maintenance Check-Up” on the system and found the reason for their problems. Once the free preventative maintenance inspection was performed we found that the softeners had quit working. The softeners were producing hard water which resulted in scaling of the RO membranes. This scale resulted in increased conductivity and hard water bleed through. That ultimate result was spotting on the products coming off the rinse line. Complete Water Solutions, after talking with the customer, found that it was better to just replace the softener due to the age of the equipment and the fact that some of the parts had become obsolete.

Current Situation:
Our customer had 5 Millipore EMD Elix 100 RO/EDI units. At the time, 2 units were leaking and the total output of all 5 units when working would be 2.2 GPM @ 77 Degree F (see specs). Roughly 634 Gallons Per Day Make-Up (2,400L Per Unit). The customer also had issues during the winter months when water temperatures would drop causing the output to drop. With new processes coming online the customer determined that they would need to get another 1 to 1.5 GPM production. This would require them to purchase another Millipore EMD Elix Machine (maybe 2) plus repair the existing 2 that were broken. With a price tag of $16,800 – $28,000 Per Unit. The cost was going to range from $67,200.00 – $112,000, not including installation.

Some Additional Needs:
The customer needed installation done in such a matter that would allow them to still operate during the changeover. That was not a problem.

Solution:
Complete Water Solutions was able to provide a turn-key system replacing all the Millipore EMD Elix Machines and provide them the quality of water they were requesting. All the equipment was replaced and installed while keeping the customer running. We were able to do this by providing a Temporary DI Exchange Tank Service during the demo and installation process. This kept the customer running and they did not miss a drop. The customer selected to replace the Millipore EMD Elix 100 Machines with:

After multiple problems, the Hospital Administration wanted to fix the problem once and for all. Complete Water Solutions arrived onsite and began with an initial assessment. During the assessment, we found that there was resin leaking from one of the softener systems periodically. Complete Water Solutions Service Engineers arrived onsite, dissembled each softener vessel, and removed all the resin storing onsite.

Complete Water found the gravel under bedding was all piled up on one side (Under The Manway Entry). The previous contractor installed the gravel support layer but never spread/leveled the support out after installation. This caused the internal piping to move/flex during regeneration, over time this stress and lack of support caused the internal piping to break. The break caused resin media to escape the softener vessel.

Complete Water Solutions repaired all 3 softener vessels in one day, removing all the resin – inspecting all the internal piping, making repairs, leveling gravel/support layer, reinstalling the resin, and returning the system to normal operations.

This Wisconsin home needed a new water filtration system & when they learned the lead pipes in their home were making the water unsafe to drink. After providing a free estimate on replacing their old water system, these homeowners decided to have a completely new water system installed. Working in partnership with 3M Water products, we were able to add greater efficiency to this home’s water system by installing a 3M Drinking Water System and 3M Water Softener 100. This home not only has cleaner drinking water, but it is also softer than ever before due to reduced contaminants. Clothes remain bright and use less detergent while washing and the entire family has noticed the effects. Their entire water and plumbing system now has an added layer of protection against contaminates due to softer, cleaner water.
